The wind of change

"The wind of change"

The search for gold and new glory
drove the people away from their land
to drive in limousines they´d seen in magazines
written by the wind of change, by the wind of Change

on their journey some found their soulmates
so they traveled with them hand in hand
when they found their first gold, all the stories grew old
as taught by the wind of change, by the wind of change

And all that was left in their countries
were women, their kids and old men
was this really their plan? Was this really their plan

Most of them stranded in cities
in a country where they could not speak
And they failed to understand the promised land
promised by the wind of change, by the wind of Change

Soon home was the sleep on the sidewalks
on stairs covered with little stones
And they only got hope out of whiskey and dope
gone was the wind of change, the wind of Change

and all that was left in their countries
were women, their kids and old men
was this really their plan? Was this really their plan

((instrumental))
In dreams they dreamed of their countries
saw all the faces they had left behind
Far away on a cold winter day
goodbye wind of change, goodbye wind of change

CODA - “Promised Land”
music by Martin Gotz, lyrics by Gavin Sinclair
((instrumental Reprise))
The promised land turned to ash in their hands
And blew away in the wind of change, the wind of change
